
A high-speed police chase through three Tennessee counties landed a Brownsville man in handcuffs after he rammed a sheriff's deputy car and led officers on a hunt through woodland. Tyler Hudson, 23, was arrested following the pursuit that started when Haywood County Sheriff's deputies attempted to pull him over for speeding. According to FOX13 Memphis, the chase began around 6 p.m. Thursday, after Hudson was clocked going 75 mph in a 55-mph zone. After deputies activated their blue lights, Hudson reportedly escalated the situation by ramming into a police cruiser and speeding off into adjoining Lauderdale County, ultimately leading to Tipton County.
Advertising the carelessness of the escape, the suspect threw all caution to the wind as his Chevy Cruze deliberately collided with law enforcement and endangered lives along highways and byways. During the chase, WREG reported that a passenger remained in the suspect's vehicle and complied with the police commands at the scene. In a statement obtained by Brownsville Radio, Haywood County Sheriff Billy Garrett Jr. recounted that Hudson turned his vehicle towards a deputy, causing damage to the patrol car. The chase ensued after Hudson failed to stop for a routine traffic check on Fulton Road west of Brownsville.
The chase concluded behind a Walmart in Covington, where Hudson's vehicle came to a crash, and he opted for flight on foot into the nearby woods. Officers scoured the area, finding Hudson hiding and taking him into custody without further incident. His arraignment details on charges stemming from the chase are yet to be disclosed.
Covington Police were commended for their swift response, having been notified of the chase as it entered their jurisdiction. Putting their safety on the line, the officers demonstrated steadfast determination in apprehending the suspect before any civilians could be harmed.
