Angelino Velazquez, a 25-year-old from the 2200 block of S. Spaulding Ave. in Chicago, has been charged with two felony counts of armed robbery and one misdemeanor count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Velazquez was taken into custody by the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force on June 12, as reported by the Chicago Police Department's official press release. The arrest happened on the 2300 block of S. Albany Ave., one day before his slated detention hearing.
According to the same press statement, it was around 4:35 p.m. on the first day of June, when Velazquez allegedly entered a retail business. He executed an armed robbery, brandishing a firearm to appropriate property from the store located in the 4400 block of S. California Ave. in the city's 9th District, as per the Chicago Police Department. Wrongly faced with an immediate danger, the employees at the time of the incident were not harmed.
Velazquez is on the docket for a June 13th detention hearing, which will be held at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California Ave. The quick apprehension following the June 1st incident underscores a focused and effective law enforcement response to violent crimes in the community.
