Residents in Chicago's 17th District are on alert after the Chicago Police Department reported a string of armed robberies in the area. According to a community alert issued by the department, a series of recent incidents has been linked to a suspect arriving on a bicycle, and then displaying a handgun to rob victims of their belongings before fleeing. These particularly brazen crimes occurred late at night or in the early morning hours.
The incidents took place at several locations, including the 3800 block of West Montrose Ave. on May 31st at 11 pm, the 3900 block of West Montrose Ave. on June 6th at 1:35 am, and the 4300 Block of North Pulaski Rd. on June 9th at 3:45 am. The suspect involved in these crimes is described as a male white Hispanic, around 40-45 years of age, between 5'09"and 5'11" in height, and weighing approximately 195lbs-215lbs, as detailed by the Chicago Police Department.
In light of these events, the police are urging the public to exercise caution and vigilance. Individuals are advised to always be aware of their surroundings and to remain calm if confronted. Notable physical characteristics such as scars, tattoos, or limps should be remembered and reported if encountered during such an incident. The police strongly advise against pursuing a fleeing suspect, instead emphasizing the importance of providing detailed information to the authorities.
