In a series of violent events that have rocked Chicago, several young individuals, including three teenagers and a 12-year-old girl, became the latest victims of gun-related incidents on Sunday evening. While the city grapples with ongoing weekend violence, these separate shootings contribute to a distressing pattern in the communities affected.

According to a report from WLS, at around 9:46 p.m. near West Pershing Avenue, an assailant exited a vehicle and discharged firearms toward three teenagers. A 15-year-old girl suffered a leg wound, a 15-year-old boy was hit in the upper back, and a 17-year-old girl sustained an injury to her arm. They were later taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.

Later that night, in another incident detailed by the Chicago Tribune, a 12-year-old girl was injured in Wicker Park. Police said an unknown assailant in a vehicle opened fire on the car she was in. The youngster was struck in the left calf; the bullet then exited into her right leg. The victim's father transported her to St. Mary's Hospital, where she was reported in good condition.

As the investigations proceed with no arrests made thus far, these acts of violence underscore the wider unrest over the weekend that saw five individuals under 18 shot, two fatally. Amidst this backdrop, Ald. Brian Hopkins has proposed advancing the city's curfew for teenagers to 8 p.m., in hopes of curtailing the incidents. Currently, Chicago enforces a 10 p.m. curfew for those 17 and under when unaccompanied by an adult, with an established 6 p.m. curfew in Millennium Park.
