A 35-year-old man was taken into custody at PortMiami after being found in possession of chilling materials on his phone. Ferry Maryanto, identified as a cruise ship employee, was arrested on Sunday following an unsettling discovery by United States Customs and Border Protection agents. As per reports provided by Local10, during a routine inspection, agents found "multiple videos/photographs" on Maryanto's cellphone containing child sexual abuse material alongside videos depicting bestiality.
The materials on the accused's device featured explicit abuse of minors—some as young as 3 years old—and were described in the arrest report to display boys and girls in harrowing acts of sexual exploitation by adults, as informed by NBC Miami. The abuse covered in the footage ranges from rape to other assaults, with one video showing an unconscionable act where a juvenile's genitals are exposed to a lit cigarette.
Maryanto, post-arrest, now faces severe legal repercussions, including 10 counts of possession of child pornography and an additional count pertaining to sexual conduct with animals. The arrest report failed to clarify what cruise line Maryanto was working for or the capacity of his employment on the ship. Details regarding his bond surfaced on Monday, with a judge at bond court issuing a $2,500 bond for each count.
Being held at Miami-Dade's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, Maryanto's incarceration details were corroborated by jail records, which also noted an immigration hold placed against him. Further details, including any potential statements made by Maryanto or his legal counsel, have not been publicly divulged, as parts of the investigation remain shrouded in the ongoing legal process.
