Thieves struck Lakeview early Sunday in a brazen smash-and-grab heist, according to Chicago police, with the scene of the crime a popular North Side eatery. ABC7 Chicago reports the incident, occurring just before the city stirred from slumber at 4:30 a.m., targeted Las Tablas On Lincoln, located at 2942 North Lincoln Avenue.
Allegedly, three men disembarked a black SUV, launched an assault on civilization by shattering the front glass door, and proceeded to pilfer what they could find within – an act devoid of respect for neither law nor labor. The men were last seen escaping in the same vehicle, which disappeared into the anonymity of the city's streets like countless before it, the Chicago Sun-Times detailed.
Thankfully, amidst the chaos of splintering glass and amongst the spoils of their plunder, no individual was reported harmed. Yet in the aftermath, police have secured no suspects, the perpetrators' identities slipping through fingers like sand – a narrative all too common in the annals of urban crime.
