Drivers navigating through Boynton Beach may need to budget extra travel time as Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works announced an extended lane closure at a key intersection. The southbound left and center through lanes on N. Congress Avenue, just north of Boynton Beach Boulevard at the L.W.D.D. L-24 Canal, will remain closed to accommodate construction crews. Travelers are narrowed down to a single southbound lane through this busy corridor, a restriction that's expected to last until June 12, according to a notice from EPW.
With traffic adjustments are in place, the Traffic Division is working to mitigate congestion. Signals have been retimed in an effort to improve the flow of vehicles through the affected area. Jillian Rhein, Public Information Manager for EPW, urged caution and safe driving through the work zones, stating, "To ensure the safety of our workers and fellow drivers, EPW urges the public to exercise caution and drive safely through the construction work zone during the lane closure."
While disruptions are expected in the short term, the construction project aims to enhance long-term road efficiency and safety. EPW asks commuters to remain patient and considerate as they make their way through the constricted space, potentially adding time to their daily commutes.
For any further details or media inquiries regarding the ongoing work and traffic updates, the public can reach out to Jillian Rhein at (561) 684-4044 or via email at [email protected]. As the June 12th end date for the lane closure approaches, drivers are reminded to stay alert and adhere to the adjusted traffic patterns, helping to ensure that everyone, from construction workers to everyday commuters, remains safe.
