In an early morning discovery, Fort Lauderdale woke to a scene of targeted vandalism against Tesla. A total of 34 Cybertrucks were found defaced with the derogatory phrase "F--- Elon", aimed at the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk. NBC Miami released footage showing the vehicles lined up with the expletive-laden vandalism prominently displayed in black ink.
Discovered just after 4 a.m. yesterday, according to the video posted online by local resident Yasser Rabello, who noticed the vandalized vehicles. "Vandalism is not acceptable," Rabello told Local 10, "It is illegal." While the precise motives behind this act remain unclear, the lot where the vehicles were stored is described as lacking in security measures, situated "in the back of projects where no security, no gates, nothing," according to AJ Cook, a TikToker providing commentary on the locale.
Despite the intrusiveness of the act, by Friday afternoon, Tesla had reportedly managed to remove the graffiti from its Cybertrucks, each with a starting price of $81,895. Fort Lauderdale Police are actively investigating the incident, searching for the individuals responsible for the damage, as reported by both Local 10 and NBC Miami.
The Cybertrucks, which feature a stainless-steel body, had been parked at the lot for approximately three days before the incident occurred. Bystander and TikToker Chase Thomas, upon hearing of the vandalism, went to the scene and said "I just heard about it and I came out here to see if it was true and I see all of these Teslas," according to Local 10. The lot had been recently leased by Tesla to store the new vehicles, and was also reportedly housing other models sold by the company.
As the investigation unfolds, the police are calling on anyone with information to come forward to aid in the resolution of this act of vandalism.
