A 33-year-old man found himself the victim of an unforeseen attack while leaving a Loop business Tuesday evening. According to the Chicago Tribune, the incident occurred shortly before 8:45 p.m. as the man exited a venue located in the first block of West Van Buren Street. An assailant, appearing suddenly from an assembled crowd, wielded a knife and inflicted a substantial wound upon the victim's left arm.
The injury, described by authorities as a "large laceration," necessitated emergent care, and as a result, the injured party was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. There, it has been reported by Fox 32 Chicago, that stability was thankfully achieved in the man's condition.
In the wake of the occurrence, law enforcement officials persist without a suspect in custody. Investigations are being spearheaded by Area Three detectives. As the dust settles and the echo of the attack fades into the Chicago night, questions hang palpably in the air regarding the motive and the assailant's identity alike.
