A mother and her son have been charged in connection with a shooting incident that left a man gravely wounded on Rio Vista Drive in late May. According to a press release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the suspects, 43-year-old Michelle Thornton and her 18-year-old son, Deandre Thornton, were arrested on Tuesday afternoon as they traveled together in a vehicle.
Both Michelle and Deandre Thornton face serious charges, including attempted criminal homicide and gun possession during the commission of a felony. Found in the 400 block of Gallatin Pike N, the detectives made the arrest and recovered two firearms, a nine-millimeter pistol and a .40 caliber handgun, signaling the seriousness of the allegations waged against them.
The shooting, which occurred on May 28, has been reported to stem from an argument, although the specifics of the dispute remain unclear. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained serious injuries from the incident. Currently, the Thorntons are being held in lieu of a substantial bond—$510,000 each, as the investigation continues.
