Last night's tragic incident on the North West Side claimed the life of a motorcyclist and left another seriously injured. The accident occurred near the intersection of Callaghan Road and Timco East around 9:45 p.m., as reported by FOX San Antonio. When authorities reached the scene, they found a male in his late fifties and a female in her thirties, who had collided with a turning truck.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, witnesses and the preliminary investigation suggest that the visibility issues led the driver of the truck, fully licensed and sober, not to see the oncoming motorcycle until the collision was unavoidable. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was rushed to University Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
KSAT reported that the crash occurred around 10 p.m. on Monday, slightly differing from the time provided by FOX San Antonio. The San Antonio Fire Department and EMS also responded to the distress calls. Police are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal crash, while the driver of the pickup truck, who did stop to render aid, is not expected to face charges in connection with the accident.
The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of the next of kin for the deceased. The investigation is ongoing.
