A 39-year-old man is facing serious allegations of child sex abuse in two Oregon counties. Jacob Bentley, who has a residence history across Hillsboro, Cornelius, Forest Grove, and Bay City communities, was taken into custody after a coordinated effort between Washington County deputies and the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, KATU reports.
The authorities believe Bentley's abuse extends to multiple children, potentially beyond the initial victims. According to KGW, during the investigation, detectives uncovered two additional children who also reported abuse at the hands of Bentley in both Washington and Tillamook County. Four children, all under the age of 10 when the alleged abuse happened, have disclosed their experiences to the authorities. Bentley now faces 12 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.
The multi-county investigation has brought to light a profoundly troubling pattern that points to a serial abuse of the most vulnerable in our midst: the young, whose voices are often drowned out by the cacophony of societal disbelief and the shroud of predatory manipulation. Bentley's residence in multiple communities has law enforcement concerned that there may be more victims yet to step forward. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking additional information that could possibly bring more of Bentley's actions to light, providing an avenue for other victims to be heard and validated. They encourage anyone with knowledge of the case to make contact, as mentioned in a KOIN article.
