An officer of the San Antonio Police Department found himself on the wrong side of the law after being arrested for driving while intoxicated. In a recent disclosure, SAPD confirmed that Damean Segovia, an officer with the department, was taken into custody by UTSA police on suspicion of DWI. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 13, 2024. This revelation comes from a report by FOX San Antonio.
While off duty, Segovia was arrested with a blood alcohol content of .15 or higher, which according to the information obtained by KTSA, is significantly above the legal limit. Serving for just over a year with the SAPD, Segovia has now been reassigned to administrative duty, a job that likely involves less responsibility in direct law enforcement activities.
The San Antonio Police Department has not provided any additional information about the circumstances leading up to the arrest. The department's brief statement underscores the legal and personal turmoil now facing an officer who has been entrusted with upholding the law, a heavy weight carried by those who step outside its bounds.
