In a recent statement from the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, it was reported that two San Franciscans, Favian Gonzales-Vancorner, 19, and Ana Reyes, 19, have been indicted on multiple felony charges. The armed robbery incident took place in the Mission District. According to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, Gonzales-Vancorner faces counts including second-degree robbery and various firearm-related offenses. At the same time, Reyes, who was out on bail at the time of arrest, is charged with possession of a concealed and loaded firearm not registered in her name. Both entered pleas of not guilty when arraigned yesterday.

Despite the gravity of the allegations, the court released Ms. Reyes on her recognizance, only stipulating that she is not to possess any weapons. Mr. Gonzales-Vancorner, on the other hand, is being held without bail. Embedded in the complex fabric of our city's crime and justice system, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins praised the San Francisco Police Department, "My office will continue to do everything we can to support our neighborhoods and small businesses who are under siege from brazen thieves who feel as if they have the right to take what they want with impunity," as reported by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. "They are mistaken. They will be identified, arrested and prosecuted."
Last Friday, amid the often lively and bustling streets of Valencia, at a liquor store within the 1200 block, the two defendants' lives intersected with the law in a fateful confrontation. After being denied alcohol for the lack of valid identification, Gonzales-Vancorner returned later and, upon being confronted by the store clerk while allegedly attempting to steal drinks, displayed a semi-automatic firearm, instilling fear and securing his retreat. Subsequently, on Sunday, SFPD officers, recognizing the suspects from a vehicle stop, arrested Gonzales-Vancorner and Reyes, wherein they uncovered a loaded ghost gun in Reyes's possession.
The preliminary hearing for these defendants, encapsulated in the court's dockets, will be on July 10. The DA's Office encourages the public, who may hold puzzle pieces of information pertinent to this ongoing investigation, to come forward and assist by calling the San Francisco Police Department Tip Line or texting TIP411.
