The newest segment introduces travelers to facilities such as a fresh ticket counter space, a security checkpoint on the mezzanine level, two additional gates, and a freshly minted museum gallery. The terminal, honoring the legacy of the former San Francisco supervisor and civil rights leader Harvey Milk, also features a passage connecting all SFO terminals past security lines, as reported by NBC Bay Area.
Self-service kiosks and mini luggage ramps have replaced traditional check-in counters, representing some of the new technological advancements at the terminal. Mayor Breed remarked during the festivities, "We have a lot of folks coming to San Francisco to celebrate Pride. This is the Harvey Milk Terminal. Wartheow, reflecting on former days, said, "But it looks really nice now, very clean and very efficient. They did a great job."
