
In an incident that jolted residents on a quiet Wednesday morning, a semi-truck lost control and careened into an apartment building in Grundy County, notably disrupting the peace of the suburb while prompting emergency evacuations.
The truck, en route eastbound on Interstate 80 according to NBC Chicago, is believed to have experienced a mechanical failure just before 9:30 a.m. which is when the Morris police report the truck skidded off the road and relentlessly smashed into the complex at the 1800 block of Ann Lane. The calamity led the Morris Fire Department to evacuate the structure, ensuring the safety of the residents, fortunately, none were harmed in the chaos.
Residents affected by the destructive bout are currently receiving assistance from the Red Cross, as reported by authorities present at the scene. The Illinois State Police have taken the reins of the investigation due to the incident occurring on an interstate span.
