A shooting incident has left one person hospitalized after a confrontation turned violent in the Stop & Shop parking lot in Revere, Massachusetts. The attack, which occurred near the grocery store's entrance at 640 Squire Road, was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Revere police quickly responded to the scene. The victim, whose name and condition have not yet been disclosed, was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. NBC10 Boston reports the authorities' belief that the incident was not random and have since made an arrest in connection with the shooting.
Details about the altercation emerged after a Tesla vehicle in the vicinity captured the confrontation on video, showing an individual in an SUV engaging with another person before stepping out to point what appeared to be a weapon and fire at the man. The victim was reportedly shot in the stomach and sought help inside the store, while the suspect fled the scene in a black SUV. This account was further substantiated by a witness who recorded the incident, according to information provided by WCVB.
Authorities later identified the suspect as 20-year-old Jeremy Carl Taylor-Tripp. Following a prompt investigation, Taylor-Tripp was arrested in Everett, facing several charges, including armed assault with intent to murder and illegal possession of a firearm. A 9mm handgun and an extended magazine were discovered and seized after the arrest. The details surrounding his detention were shared by the Revere police, as reported by WHDH. The supermarket had been closed for investigation but has since reopened, though the incident has admittedly shaken the confidence of some shoppers regarding their safety in what was once considered a routine and safe environment.
In light of the recent violence, Stop & Shop released a statement emphasizing their commitment to customer and associate safety. They "are aware of the "unfortunate incident" that took place outside the Revere store, noting that they are cooperating with police in their investigation," spokesperson Stephanie Cunha expressed, as obtained by NBC10 Boston. She added gratitude "for local law enforcement and first responders for their swift response." Despite the disturbing occurrence, the store has managed to resume normal business hours to continue serving the community.
