Three teenagers were detained and one remains at large following a high-speed crash involving a stolen vehicle on San Antonio's west side. The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon, according to San Antonio police. A white Kia, confirmed stolen and containing four teenagers, ran a stop sign at the intersection of Buena Vista Street and South Minter Street, colliding with a truck before halting dangerously close to a nearby residence.
During the chaos of the crash, one teen suspect managed to quickly flee the scene, leaving authorities to sort through the aftermath and to begin an immediate search. No one was seriously hurt in the accident – a stroke of luck in an otherwise perilous situation. One teenage occupant of the Kia was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure for "breathing problems," as reported by KENS 5. The driver of the truck involved in the accident emerged unscathed.
The San Antonio police confirmed the retrieval of two cellphones from the scene, and the Kia displayed clear signs of tampering. As detectives continue their work, they are treating the teens as suspects in the ongoing investigation while maintaining efforts to find the fourth individual involved. Details of what charges the minors might face were not disclosed at this time.
Residents of San Antonio's west side have been put on alert to be on the lookout for the teen who succeeded to escape and anyone with information is urged to contact local law enforcement.
