Two individuals were taken to the hospital following a traffic accident in Southwest Miami-Dade, where a garbage truck collided with a tree on Friday afternoon. According to WSVN, the incident occurred near Southwest 104th Street and Hammocks Boulevard.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units arrived at the scene shortly after 1:30 p.m. to find the vehicle had veered off the road, and smashed into a tree head-on. Officials indicated that the driver suffered a medical emergency, which precipitated the crash. In the efforts to aid the trapped men technical, rescue teams executed a careful extrication process.
Both of the injured parties were transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. While their conditions are currently not disclosed, it was reported that they have sustained traumatic injuries. The nature and extent of these injuries have not been further detailed at this time.
