Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection to the murder of a 16-year-old boy in Chicago last November, authorities announced.
Tayjon Lane, 19, of the 700 block of N. Waller Ave., and Jaylyn Griffith, 20, of the 5000 block of W. Maypole Ave. were taken into custody by Area Four Homicide Investigation Support Team on June 20, 2024, and face charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, following the fatal shooting that occurred in the 5000 block of W. Madison in the city's 15th District.
A press release issued by the Chicago Police Department confirms their identities and links them to the act that cut short a young life prematurely, the authorities used surveillance footage and other investigative techniques to bring the alleged perpetrators to justice even as the neighborhood reels from the loss.
The teenage victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly shot and killed last year, with Lane and Griffith now implicated in the tragic event. The investigation spanned several months before leading to the recent arrests. The detention hearing for the accused is scheduled for today at the court at 2600 S. California.
Details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the shooting remain scarce as officials have not released further information.
