Despite the aggressive nature of the flames, firefighters managed to bring the situation under control by around 2:40 a.m., as reported by MassLive. Among the damage, which has been estimated at around $1 million, included the residences within the building and a restaurant below that were significantly affected.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident and the cause of the fire is still under the investigation by the Westborough Fire Department, along with the District 14 Fire Investigation Unit, "Westborough firefighters rescued two victims over ladders," the Shrewsbury Fire Department was keen to share in a Facebook post praising the swift action of the crews involved. Following the incident, South Street faced temporary closure from the rotary to Cottage Street as noted by the Shrewsbury Police Department.
