The weekend turned out to be a lucrative one for several Arizonians playing the lottery, as nearly $1.4 million in winnings were reported across the state. Four lottery tickets, including Powerball and local games, hit big jackpots after Saturday's drawings, as detailed by 12 News. The Powerball drawing was especially fortuitous for one ticket holder in Phoenix who purchased their ticket at a Circle K, they are now one million dollars richer.
Alongside the jackpot, another Powerball ticket earned a Phoenix local $50,000, after being bought at the Walmart on Union Hills Drive in Glendale. The winning numbers were 18, 25, 31, 40, 57, and the Powerball, 4, but the celebration did not end there, as per 12 News. Tucson also saw victory with a $202,000 win from a Triple Twist ticket - the third jackpot of its kind claimed in the same week. Not to forget the Fantasy 5 ticket bought in Apache Junction, which brought its owner $144,002.
Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot surged to a staggering $1 billion, as reported by KTAR. A bit of extra luck was sprinkled over four other players in the state, who combined their wit to win $400,000 in total after Saturday's drawing. Each ticket matched four of the five white numbers and the red Powerball, although not all of them laid hands on the same prize amount.
Adding to the winnings, two players had wisely opted for the Power Play feature and ended up tripling their $50,000 prize to a cool $150,000 each. According to KTAR, plucking their tickets from a Circle K in Glendale and a Walmart in Casa Grande, they watched the numbers 12, 13, 33, 50, and 52, along with the Powerball 23, transform into a small fortune. Conversely, two players without the Power Play boost, still walked away with $50,000 each, having bought their tickets at a Phoenix Safeway and a Circle K in Peoria.
