The incident occurred during the bustling two-day lobster mini-season, which draws scores of divers and fishing enthusiasts to Florida waters. According to WSVN, the boaters were diving when their situation took a turn for the worse. Fortuitously, fellow boaters in the vicinity quickly intervened, rescuing them and transporting them safely to a nearby dock, as informed by the Miami-Dade police.
Amid these frantic moments, a diver was reported missing after the boat overturned. In a stroke of luck, and testament to the community's vigilance, the diver was soon found after being picked up by a different vessel in the vicinity. This information was confirmed by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue as reported by Local 10. The incident, coinciding with the first day of the Florida's spiny lobster sport mini-season suggested that the waters were perhaps more crowded than usual, with additional boats nearby that could render aid.
Aerial footage from 7Skyforce showed the overturned boat with its dive flag still visible. Nearby, a Miami-Dade Police boat attended the scene, marking the coordinated response to this maritime mishap. Thankfully, as the footage relayed, no injuries were reported despite the capsize – a best-case scenario amidst the perilous circumstances.
