Three men face charges after Boston police seized firearms and drugs during a search in Roxbury, according to a press release from the office of District Attorney Kevin Hayden. Officers conducting a warrant search at a Beethoven Street home last week unearthed two guns and an assortment of narcotics, leading to the arrests of Kevin Phillips, 46, Sheldon McBynum, 58, and Robert Davidson, 60.
Officials report that Phillips is charged with several offenses, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession with intent to distribute a class B drug. Judge Maureen Flaherty set his bail at $5,000 and imposed home confinement with GPS monitoring upon release. McBynum and Davidson were slapped with charges for possession of a large capacity firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and possession of class A and B drugs, with their bail set at $2,500. Additionally, Davidson is subject to home confinement with GPS monitoring.
All three individuals hold extensive board of probation records, and the July 19 police operation came early in the morning, executed by the Boston police E-18 and E-13 Drug Control units alongside the Boston police SWAT team. The residence, described by Hayden as a “problem residence”, yielded a silver revolver and a black semi-automatic handgun, as well as crack cocaine, heroin, and paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution.
"This operation and the resulting arrests are in direct response to concerns in the community about suspicious, ongoing activity at that address," Hayden elucidated in a statement. These offenses and the proactive measures taken are reflective of a broader initiative to address such issues within the neighborhood, aiming to mitigate the impact a single problematic location can have on its surroundings. The trio is expected back in court on August 21 for probable cause hearings.
