The Broward Sheriff's Office has called upon the public for assistance in a developing murder case following the release of surveillance footage related to a fatal shooting and subsequent car crash in Tamarac. The incident, which took place near the 6300 block of West Commercial Boulevard early last Wednesday, claimed the life of Christopher Mathurin. He was found deceased inside one of the involved vehicles when deputies arrived on the scene around 2:15 a.m., according to Local 10 News.
Detectives have indicated that an shooting preceded the two-vehicle collision, after which occupants of a second vehicle fled. In a bid to track down the suspects, multiple angles of the crash and the immediate aftermath have been shared with the public. Two male individuals, one with slim build and the other with a stocky build, both dressed in dark clothing, are shown escaping the scene. Their identities remain a mystery, and the surveillance footage is central to the BSO's plea for leads.
Residents in the vicinity were shaken by the incident, with one neighbor, Genie Stone, recalling "a really loud bang" that "just shook the house," as recounted in an interview by Local 10 News. The neighborhood was promptly swarmed by police activity as the investigation got underway.
