Chicagoans and visitors, get your appetites ready because the Taste of Chicago is back and it’s sporting a line-up that's as diverse as the city itself, transforming Grant Park into a smorgasbord of culinary delights from September 6 through September 8. And yes, if you're worrying about your end-of-summer plans colliding with this festivity, the push to September is the city's strategic play to sidestep the summer jam created by the NASCAR Chicago Street Race and the 2024 Democratic National Convention; talk about a logistical meal prep.
With over 40 food vendors marinating, frying, and grilling up a storm and more than a dozen food trucks set to roll in, NBC Chicago reports attendees can expect a buffet range from the Cuban zest of 90 Miles Cuban Café to the tangy sauciness of Harold’s Chicken, along with Chicago classics like Lou Malnati’s, Eli's Cheesecake, and The Original Rainbow Cone, a family-friendly event that's also got a bouncy castle on the docket, because what's a food festival without a bit of air-filled fun for the kids.
And for those rhythmically inclined taste buds, CeeLo Green, known for his catchy 2010 tune "Forget You," will be headlining, along with talents like sibling trio Yahritza y Su Esencia and Australian alternative rock troupe Atlas Genius, as CBS News Chicago indicates. The Mayor, Brandon Johnson, adds some civic seasoning stating, “For more than 4 decades, Taste of Chicago has grown into a global institution, inviting Chicagoans and visitors alike to enjoy our city’s expansive culinary and cultural ecosystem,” in a release, and isn't shying away from amping up the weekend with “a must-see weekend of entertainment, cuisine and community unlike any other.”
