An 18-year-old from Chicago's South Ridgeway area is facing serious charges following an incident that culminated in robbery and aggravated battery, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department. Identified as Joshua Pittman, the young man was apprehended on Monday and is being accused of assaulting and robbing a 26-year-old male victim.
The arrest took place in the 5100 block of W. Concord Pl., mere minutes after the alleged crime occurred nearby on W. North Ave in the city's 25th District, the sequence unfolding with rapidity could scarcely grant witnesses time to comprehend the events, let alone the victim to evade the sudden assault. Pittman, now charged with one felony count of robbery and one felony count of aggravated battery in a public place, is scheduled for a detention hearing today at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California.
