San Diego residents received a stark reminder of the vigilance needed in their communities following a residential burglary that ended with a suspect in custody early yesterday morning. According to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD), a call was placed regarding an unauthorized entry to a home on the 5600 block of Mary Lane Dr. in the College Area.
The distressing event unfolded while the homeowner and their family were asleep, the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Dillan Baldwin Acuna, intruded the residence, igniting a sense of fear and disbelief for those present. Police response was prompt, and upon their arrival at the scene, the officers encountered Baldwin in the side yard of the property. A brief chase ensued on foot, after which Baldwin was apprehended by the SDPD Eastern Division officers.
Baldwin now faces charges of residential burglary, an offense that undermines the sense of safety and security within the bounds of one's sanctuary – home. He was subsequently booked into the San Diego Central Jail following his capture. The SDPD has indicated that while Baldwin is the only suspect involved, the investigation continues to ensure all aspects of the incident are thoroughly examined.
