A serious injury collision occurred last night at the intersection of 25th and Market Street in Sherman Heights. At approximately 10:51 PM, a 42-year-old man on an electric skateboard was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street against a red light. The skateboarder, who was heading eastbound in the south crosswalk, rode directly into the path of a 2017 Subaru Forester driven by a 64-year-old male who had the green light. The electric skateboarder sustained serious head injuries as a result of the collision, the San Diego Police Department's Watch Commander's Log reports.
The skateboarder was quickly transported to the hospital following the incident. His injuries, while serious, are reported to not be life-threatening. The Subaru driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision. Traffic Division officers have promptly responded to investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision thoroughly. The report makes it clear that no DUI was involved.
