In an unfortunate incident on the 100 block of East Lower Wacker Drive last night, an unidentified man was struck and killed by a semi-truck which subsequently left the scene without stopping. The hit-and-run occurred around 10 p.m., police confirmed, as per the Chicago Sun-Times.
Walking on the first block of East Lower Wacker Drive, the pedestrian sustained severe body trauma when hit by the fleeting vehicle. The Chicago Tribune notes that after the collision, the man was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As of the latest updates, the authorities have not detained anyone in connection to the incident, and the case is being handled by Area Three detectives, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
