
An investigation is underway by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) following a shooting incident on Indianapolis' south side that resulted in five individuals, including a teenager, being wounded on Sunday evening. As reported by WRTV, the episode began with a disturbance call around 8:15 p.m. in the 3200 block of Teakwood Drive.
Upon their arrival at the scene, IMPD officers discovered three adult females, one adult male, and a juvenile boy with gunshot injuries arrived at the scene with gunshot wounds according to statements obtained by WTHR. Four victims are battling serious conditions, while one male victim was highlighted as being in critical condition.
The victims were subsequently transported to a local hospital. Determined during the chaotic aftermath, one person was detained at the scene. However, their connection to the shooting, if any, is currently unclear as per the ongoing investigation.
Providing details on the victims, IMPD identified them as a 17-year-old boy, a 27-year-old woman, and two 33-year-olds—one man and one woman—alongside a 51-year-old woman. The details of the shooting that reportedly emerged from a basketball court disturbance, with the police detailing the events that led up to the shooting initially stemmed from a dispute, saying the shooting injured five people. The police said a man is in critical condition, a statement that was walked back to clarify the gender and ages of the victims subsequently.
