A former teacher and coach from DeKalb County, Brody Dixon, 37, of Garrett, is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly catfishing teenage girls on Snapchat. As reported by FOX59, Dixon is accused of posing as a younger male model to engage in conversations with the girls, during which he secretly recorded them exposing themselves.
Dixon, who was recently associated with Garrett High School, has been charged initially with one count of possession of child pornography. After executing a search warrant on Dixon's iCloud account, however, authorities discovered to further investigate content featuring minors engaged in sexual activity. 21Alive News detailed that Dixon now faces 12 felony charges, including three counts of child exploitation, eight counts of possession of child pornography, and one count of vicarious sexual gratification with a minor.
During the investigation, police recovered evidence of Snapchat conversations with two high school students, both 15 to 16 years old at the time, who exchanged nude images with the alias believing it was a young model, and not Dixon. "A friend of one of the victims told police the girl was close friends with Dixon," according to a statement obtained by 21Alive News.
Dixon's relationship with DeKalb County schools spanned several years, and he served as a paraprofessional and football coach at DeKalb High School from 2018-2020 before being suspended in May. His alleged activities were conducted over nearly a five-year period, as mentioned by WANE. The recent findings have significantly broadened the scope of the offenses for which Dixon is being tried, indicating a deeper and more systematic abuse of trust and power over vulnerable teenagers.
