Fort Lauderdale's Davie Boulevard Bridge is slated for a temporary closure tonight, throwing a wrench into the usual flow of traffic over the South Fork New River. WSVN reports the bridge will be off-limits from 8 to 10 p.m. due to scheduled maintenance activities. Regular travelers along this route should plan for a minor detour, or perhaps, tolerate a slight delay.
Straying from the efficiency of schedule, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) assures that all necessary detours will be clearly signed to redirect both east and westbound vehicles. Traffic will be rerouted via Marina Mile Boulevard by way of Interstate 95 for those heading east, and SW 9th Avenue for westbound traffic, according to the traffic advisory on X.
Heads up, nightly commuters!

The temporary roadblock isn't just impacting rubber on asphalt, but also the vessels that typically glide under the drawbridge. To accommodate the paused traffic crossways, marine passages will be free after the bridge splits upward at 8 PM. The bridge's raised arms will welcome the silent procession of boats and ships, as stated, "The bridge spans and waterway will be opened at 8 PM to allow marine vessels to pass," providing an uninterrupted transit for maritime traffic. The United States Coast Guard has communicated this temporary adjustment to mariners through a local notice.
