Fort Lauderdale is gearing up for the "Summer Bash," a community event hosted by Broward County Animal Care that promises a mix of entertainment and altruism. Slated for Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m., the free adoption showcase will star Susan Kelleher, DVM, the familiar face of Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER from Disney Plus. Known for her passion and expertise in exotic and wildlife veterinary medicine, Dr. Kelleher, or Dr. K, advocates for the well-being of less conventional pets through her work and media appearances.
The gathering's itinerary includes light-hearted family games, a window into the workings of Animal Care through facility tours, educational exhibits, and a variety of local food truck offerings. In a bid to lend furry friends a new lease on life, attendees will be welcomed with open arms to meet, and perhaps take home, their new four-legged family members. "We believe in the power of community and the joy of pet adoption. Summer Bash is our way of celebrating that bond and inviting everyone to participate," said Doug Brightwell, director of Broward County Animal Care.
Animal lovers will have the unique chance to rub shoulders with Dr. K and capture the moment. Her footprint in the veterinary field is substantial, having both founded the Broward Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital and volunteered as a faculty member at the university level.
For those looking to contribute to the cause or find their newest family member, Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 S.W. 42nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. The local institution has extended an open invite to all who wish to witness the union of pets with loving homes.
