A school security monitor at William Dandy Middle School in Fort Lauderdale is facing a felony child abuse charge after a video surfaced depicting him putting a student into a headlock and slamming the youth into a concrete planter box. The incident, which occurred in February, has led to the arrest of 32-year-old Rubyne Burrows, as first reported by NBC Miami.
Burrows, who turned himself into authorities this past Sunday just before midnight, was shown in the disturbing footage applying pressure to the student's neck and slapping him across the face, a detail confirmed by the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrest report. The student, a boy whose age was not specified, told police that he was "talking back" to the security monitor when the assault occurred. "I slap kids," Burrows allegedly said during the altercation, according to the arrest report.
The student subsequently visited an emergency room, where he was diagnosed with a contusion on his jaw resulting from the encounter. Local 10 reported on Burrows' appearance before a Broward County judge and his subsequent release from jail after posting bond.

"Burrows grabbed him by the hoodie and let him go three times before putting him in a 'chokehold' and slamming 'him into an aloe pit'," the unnamed student described the violent sequence, as stated in the arrest report.
