A recent surge in crime has seen a 16-year-old lead authorities on a cross-county carjacking chase that concluded with an intense search at a Noblesville library. Court documents, as reported by CBS4, indicate that the teenager from Indianapolis is alleged to have carjacked a woman in Marion. This incident precipitated a police pursuit that came to a head with a crash in Noblesville and a chase on foot.
According to an account by FOX59, in addition to the 16-year-old, Tyler Thomas, a 26-year-old also from Indianapolis, was involved in the ensuing chaos. Thomas was finally caught inside the Hamilton East Public Library, which had to be evacuated as law enforcement swarmed to locate the possible armed suspect. He was apprehended without further incident.
Notably, the 16-year-old, identified as Dalton Dee Wayne Spalding, is now being charged as an adult. The severity of the alleged offenses, detailed in a report by WISH-TV, include armed robbery, intimidation, pointing a firearm at another, and auto theft. Spalding is currently being held on a $30,000 bond in Grant County.
The older accomplice, Thomas, has also been charged with serious felonies, including armed robbery and auto theft. These charges come at a time when questions are increasingly being raised about youth involvement in violent crimes and the judicial system’s response to such cases. Despite the disruptions caused, no injuries were reported in the library incident, and the targeted woman in Marion was unharmed.
