The skies above Indianapolis will clear up after a bout of scattered showers and thunderstorms early this morning, according to the National Weather Service. Residents can look forward to mostly sunny skies with temperatures cresting near 84 degrees, after the storms subside. The likelihood of precipitation stands at about 30 percent before the day brightens.
As the day progresses, the dreariness will give way to clearer skies, with a light and variable wind shifting north northwest between 5 to 8 mph in the morning. The evening is expected to be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to a low around 59 degrees, and a north wind travelling at a gentle 5 to 9 mph.
Looking ahead, the weather seems to stay in favor of anyone with outdoor plans. The NWS has forecast a sunny streak that will run through to Sunday. The daily highs from Thursday to Sunday are slated to range between 77 and 83 degrees. The nights will also follow a consistent pattern, with temperatures gently resting in the upper 50s to low 60s.
However, the start of the next workweek may bring with it some uncertainty. "A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms" are on the horizon for Monday, with partly sunny conditions and a high again near 83 degrees, the NWS mentions. Showers and thunderstorms are slightly more likely on Tuesday, with chances increasing to a 50 percent likelihood.
In the Hazardous Weather Outlook issued earlier today by the NWS, there's a note on the possibility of brief downpours and lightning being the primary hazards for the day. While spotter activation is not anticipated, localized flooding in certain areas may not be entirely off the cards. The outlook serves as a gentle reminder for citizens to stay vigilant and keep an eye on the ever-changing Midwestern skies.
