A tragic incident unfolded in Lauderhill on Saturday, where a woman was critically injured after being stabbed multiple times inside a house. Local 10 reported that police responded to the 5700 block of Northwest 12th Street around 6:15 p.m., where they discovered the victim with severe injuries. The woman, whose identity remains withheld, was subsequently transported to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale by Lauderhill Fire Rescue.
Remarkably after the incident, the man suspected of the stabbing fled the scene but later surrendered himself at a Lauderhill Police Department station; his identity has not been released as the investigation progresses. One neighbor described hearing the woman's daughter cry out “he stabbed my mom” and another calling 911, according to an interview with NBC6. Other neighbors painted a picture of the victim as a dedicated mother and grandmother, who worked hard and generally kept to herself.
The Lauderhill Police Department is diligently working to determine the motive behind the stabbing. Sgt. Parys Thomas, a spokeswoman for the department, confirmed that the suspect had turned himself in mere minutes after the stabbing occurred. No further details have been released about the suspect or the exact circumstances leading up to the violent event.
The police urge anyone with information that could contribute to the investigation to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477, as per the report by The Miami Herald.
