The area was subject to a surge of tumultuous weather that day as heavy rains accompanied the electrical display, earlier warnings of flash floods were issued for parts of Broward County, these however had lifted by the afternoon, as reported by 953WDAE. The Pembroke Pines Police took the opportunity to remind the community through a post about lightning safety, if the time between a lightning flash and thunderclap is less than 30 seconds, it indicates potential proximity to the 'strike zone'; they advise to seek shelter indoors during a thunderstorm, to avoid water, metal objects, and high structures like poles and trees.
