An Indianapolis man was wounded in a shooting on the city's near northwest side over the weekend, authorities say. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) reported to the 800 block of Udell Street around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, after receiving a report of a person shot.
At the scene, officers discovered an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer stated to WTHR that the victim was briefly able to communicate with officers before being transported, to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment.
Details regarding the circumstances of the shooting remain sparse, but according to what the victim relayed to the authorities, a disturbance occurred just west of a nearby liquor store where he was found. IMPD has indicated that they believe the disturbance led to the shooting incident. The victim is currently in stable condition, IMPD confirmed to FOX59.
Limited information from the victim has left police calling for witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. Those with additional information are urged to contact IMPD at (317) 327-3475, as the investigation continues. Details regarding potential suspects, or arrests, remain undisclosed at this time.
