Miami's weather pattern is settling into a familiar rhythm of sporadic morning showers and mostly clear skies in the afternoon, with today continuing this trend. According to NBC Miami, the temperature is poised to hit a sweltering 92 degrees, with feel-like temperatures climbing above the 100-degree mark.
Conditions are ripe for water enthusiasts with the wind easing up a bit, signaling a prime day for boating and beach activities. Seas are expected to be relatively calm at 2 feet or below, and the risk of rip currents remains low. While the heat may demand some caution, these factors combine to create what could be an ideal day along the shore.
As we head into the weekend, the National Weather Service predicts a slight uptick in atmospheric drama. "A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8am," forecasts the government agency for tomorrow, with a hint of increased activity moving into Sunday and next week. Between 40 to 50 percent of South Florida could experience storms each day during this period.
Sunday through Tuesday is anticipated to bring more than just liquid sunshine, as a significant body of Saharan dust will make its way to the region. This wave of dust is known to cast a hazy shade over the skyline and potentially irritate the lungs of more sensitive individuals. "We are also on track to see that plume of Saharan dust work back into the region," reports NBC Miami, highlighting the health consideration for those with respiratory concerns.
Looking further ahead, thunderstorms seem to become a more likely scenario, with "A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm," says the National Weather Service regarding next Tuesday’s predictions. Overall, Miami's residents and visitors should brace for a blend of steaming heat, sudden showers, and a dusty atmosphere in the coming days, navigating a typical subtropical summer in the city.
