A downtown Miami bagel shop fell victim to vandalism last month when anti-Israel graffiti was sprayed onto its building. According to Miami Herald, the incident took place at Holy Bagels & Pizzaria, and local authorities have now apprehended a suspect.
Kenneth Guerrero, 28, was stopped by police early yesterday morning for fitting the description of a suspect caught in the establishment's security footage during the incident. Found wearing the same distinctive hooded sweatshirt, Guerrero was detained by an officer at NW 2nd Avenue and 1st Street. In a misguided attempt to fulfill justice, the sweatshirt bore a white Foundation Skateboards logo, which was also visible in the video capturing the vandalism act.
The security footage from June 16 showed a perpetrator scrawling the words “Free Palestine Stop Genocide” across the entrance and also defacing a combined U.S/Israeli flag with a “Free Palestine” message. That particular flag was emblazoned with a banner stating “Stand with Israel,” a detail highlighted in the photos provided by police to the Miami Herald.
Guerrero faces a felony criminal mischief charge for causing damage exceeding $1,000. His booking status at the jail was not immediately clear, along with any representation by legal counsel.
