North Nashville is gearing up for an artistic celebration as the Metro Nashville Arts Commission (Metro Arts) prepares to unveil a new mural at Kossie Gardner Sr. Park. Created by multi-disciplinary artist Elisheba Israel Mrozik, the mural "Elements of Art Out Norf," spans 71 feet in length and stands 9 feet tall. According to nashville.gov, the artwork encapsulates the North Nashville community's history, diversity, unity, and prosperity.
The public art piece was selected by a community panel that included North Nashville leaders, artists, and technical advisors from the parks staff. Mrozik, known for her vibrant and narrative-rich artistic approach, was the choice to bring the visual representation of North Nashville's spirit to life, in a celebration set for Saturday, July 27, from 4:30-7:30 p.m., as per nashville.gov. The gathering aims not just to honor the new mural but also to foster community bonds.

The project, funded by Metro Nashville's Percent for Public Art Fund, establishes a legacy of investing in public art. The fund, initiated in 2000 under the tenure of Mayor Bill Purcell, dedicates one percent of the designated Metro Capital Improvements Budget towards commissioning new artworks for the Metro Public Art Collection.
