Oakland's community is mourning the death of a local rapper and entrepreneur who was killed during a meet-and-greet at the grand opening of Glamor Beauty Supply. The artist, known as Tan DaGod, was fatally shot last Saturday afternoon, and another individual was injured. KRON4 reported that the shooting occurred at the strip mall on 40th Street and Telegraph Avenue around 5 p.m., prompting attendees to seek shelter in a nearby donut shop.
The chaotic scene was described by a donut shop worker, who first thought the gunfire was part of the music. The Oakland Police Department is currently seeking to identify the shooter, and no arrests had been made as of Sunday evening. As per KRON4, Tan DaGod, who had posted about the event to her nearly 20,000 Instagram followers shortly before the shooting, was confirmed dead by paramedics upon their arrival.
