The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday is kicking off on July 29 and will run through August 11. According to an announcement from the Palm Beach County Government, the annual event is designed to ease the financial burden of gearing up for the new academic year by offering tax exemptions on various school-related items.
The two-week sales tax reprieve will apply to school supplies priced at $50 or less per item, running the gamut from binders to lunch boxes. Alongside the basics, learning aids like interactive books and jigsaw puzzles seem to qualify, priced at $30 or less. Students needing some fashion updates for the school hallways can snag apparel including pants, shoes, and shirts, aimed at a price ceiling of $100, and the essential backpacks that, at under $100, will also be exempt from sales tax.
Families looking to upgrade or purchase new technology for their students like personal computers and certain tech accessories are on the tax-free list, as long as the cost is $1,500 or less per item. This includes computers themselves, along with useful peripherals like flash drives and printers.
