Sean Kingston, the rapper known for his 2007 hit "Beautiful Girls," and his mother, Janice Turner, have been brought before the court on federal fraud charges in South Florida. The indictment, issued by a Miami grand jury, accuses the pair of carrying out a scheme where they fraudulently acquired more than $1 million in luxury items using falsified documents, as reported by WSVN.

Details reveal that the alleged fraud involved duping victims into believing high-end specialty vehicles, jewelry, and other items had been paid for with bank wires or other financial transfers, which investigation claims never actually occurred. This allowed Kingston, 34, and Turner, 61, purportedly to falsely maintain ownership of items they had not legally purchased. In a case that seems to only further tarnish his public image, Kingston had been previously arrested on May 23 at Fort Irwin, a development also covered by ABC News.

The scope of the fraudulent activities is said to span over a period from October to March, during which nearly half a million dollars' worth of jewelry, significant sums from Bank of America, a luxury SUV from a Cadillac Escalade dealership, and extravagant custom-made beds were reportedly stolen. These charges come not long after Kingston's conviction on a separate charge of trafficking stolen property, which placed him on a two-year probationary sentence.

Kingston's mother is no stranger to legal woes either, having pleaded guilty back in 2006 to bank fraud for stealing over $160,000. Her past conviction saw her serving nearly one and a half years in prison, adding to a combined narrative of recurrent misdemeanor entangling mother and son. The attorney representing the duo, Robert Rosenblatt, has not yet put forth a public response to the recent charges but has previously stated they "look forward to addressing the charges and are 'confident of a successful resolution,'" as obtained by WSVN.
