A tragic incident unfolded in St. Lucie County when a gunman fired into a mobile home just after midnight yesterday at Windsong Mobile Village. The gunfire injured a mother who was inside with her children. St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson told WPTV that the assailant fired at least 10 shots, hitting the woman twice. Thankfully, her children were unharmed.
The sheriff's office is currently trying to rapidly piece together the events, canvassing the neighborhood in search of surveillance footage that might shed light on the suspect, described by Pearson as reckless. It's believed that the shooting wasn't arbitrary; the gunman's bullets pierced only one home. The community is urged to come forward with any leads, implored to call the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477 with information that could assist detectives in their investigation.
"A woman was in her bedroom, likely sleeping, when a gunman fired nearly a dozen shots into the trailer," Sheriff Pearson elaborated in his statement to WPTV. Fortunately, despite the violent disruption, the injuries sustained by the mother are reported to be non-life threatening. Swift action by a family member ensured her prompt arrival at the hospital.
Authorities are urgently searching for the gunman responsible for injuring a mother inside her home at Windsong Mobile Village. Detectives are relying on the community's vigilance to provide clues that will lead to the arrest of the suspect. Ensuring the victims' well-being and restoring peace are top priorities for the sheriff during this investigation.
