Worcester Police apprehended a man for narcotics trafficking last night. According to the Worcester Police Department's press release, forty-nine-year-old Wilberto Negron from Worcester was initially stopped for a traffic violation while riding a moped and subsequently arrested for possession and intent to distribute illegal drugs.

Officers noticed Negron’s failure to use his turn signal, which led to the discovery of his vehicle’s expired registration. They also realized that Negron was operating the vehicle with a revoked license. A subsequent search, possibly prompted by the large amount of cash seen in his fanny pack, uncovered nine bags of fentanyl and one bag of crack cocaine.

Negron is now facing serious charges including trafficking more than 10 grams of Fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute Class B substances. The offenses also include vehicular violations such as operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and expired registration.

The incident unfolded in a Main Street convenience store parking lot at approximately 6:35 PM. Following protocol, the confiscated substances were weighed at the police station: the fentanyl at 22.3 grams and the crack cocaine at 4.6 grams. The Worcester Police Department has since charged Negron to hold him fully accountable for the allegations and to prevent such dangerous substances from potentially harming the local community.
