Construction along Wurzbach Road is set to kick off this coming Monday. The aim is to make it easier for pedestrians with improvements stretching from I-10 to Fredericksburg Road.

At a cool $2.35 million, the proposal will be implemented in stages. The officials are hitting the ground first between I-10 and Bluemel Road. This journey is slated for nighttime, aiming to keep the daytime traffic flowing as smoothly as it can under the circumstances. To help residents and merchants stay in the loop about sidewalk closures, the city’s set up a webpage – SASpeakUp.com/WurzbachCorridor.

Public Works Director Razi Hosseini, in a statement, has shed light on this transformation, explaining, “This area of Wurzbach Road has a lot of pedestrians and public transit riders. We want to give them a safer and more comfortable experience. Performing most of the construction at night will help keep lanes open during the day for those traveling to and from the Medical Center.”

As for the timeline, the project is scheduled to be completed by Winter 2025. The traffic, meanwhile, will be flowing in two directions.
