Clarksville has been faced with the aftermath of a fatal crash that claimed the life of 47-year-old Huey Johnson, a local resident, as a 19-year-old woman faces multiple charges in connection with the incident. The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) has charged Briana Golden, also from Clarksville, with vehicular homicide among other offenses relating to a June 16 collision, as reported by Clarksville Now.
The crash took place on Peachers Mill Road where, according to police, two vehicles were traveling at an excessive speed before one vehicle crashed into a utility pole, causing fatal injuries to Johnson, said the CPD, though initial reports inaccurately identified the fleeing vehicle as a red Ford Fusion, later investigation confirmed it was a maroon Kia K5, WSMV notes, with the case still pending prosecution and the department continuing to seek additional information.
After locating and interviewing Golden on June 24, she was indicted by the August session of the Montgomery County Grand Jury—faced with charges including vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, driver to exercise due care, and speeding, which led to her arrest on August 13, following the thorough investigation by Fatal Crash Team investigators and CPD's Intelligence Unit as detailed by FOX 17.
Golden, now incarcerated, is being held on a $90,000 bond. CPD is urging anyone with information regarding this fatal incident to step forward and contact FACT Investigator Burton at 931-648-0656, ext. 5665.
